Prompted by an article in OLDaily I've temporarily added the open source Laszlo SoundBlox MP3 audio player to the bottom of the left-hand menu. SoundBlox is interesting because it's a very small Internet application, i.e. it's loaded from the internet everytime AURICLE starts. It requires a modern Web browser, i.e. one that supports Flash so I can't guarantee it will work for everyone. The playlist is an XML file which can be edited with a simple text editor, which may be a relief whose musical interests are broader than 'techno'. What's the relevance to e-learning? Well, the ubiquitous MP3 file is suitable for more than music. Learning and communication can be aided by more than text. Colleagues in languages may find a light footprint audio player of interest. Also, who said blogs always needed to be text-based? So if there are any budding Alistair Cooke's wishing to produce their own variant of Letter From America out there?
